HOM: Cabin Fever

We got in to Nampa, with Dan's help got the trailer set up on a lot and the hookups completed, and we moved in. It was a nice little trailer, wood paneled, warm & comfy. And small. The first day or two was fun, like camping. The next few days were a little edgy. Thereafter, the stress factor started through the roof. And the trailer got smaller. And smaller. I am a small-space person & could be quite happy living in a boat or a van. Lyn wasn't. Living with other guys in a small space like a boat or a barracks or a dorm room is one thing, you tend to get along or get by no matter what. Living in a small area with an unhappy woman that blames you for her unhappiness is impossible. I went house hunting. Well, rental hunting, actually. I found out that one of the professors (Dr. B. Seaman) had a small house for rent down near Holly Market, so we looked at it. It was a one bedroom older house and there was a basement apartment rented by another young couple. It was the cheapest acceptable place we found, so we rented it. I parked the trailer next to the house. Later on, Don talked over renting it with me and moved into it, which helped a lot with the expenses. It was a perfect little bachelor pad for him for a while and cheaper than living in the dorm had been. The city gave me static about the trailer, but as long as it was on my property and licensed they couldn't do much about it. TBC (Me) (Blacktail Books)
