HOM: Another Cusp.
On this date in 1986, September 28th, a Sunday, my life changed.
It was Lyn's 35th birthday, and her version of a mid-life crisis was to call it quits with me and Montana. She called her parents and talked it over with them and then told me her decision: she wanted out. The next morning, with her parent's encouragement and financial help, she got an attorney and started divorce proceedings.
As I mentioned before, the proceedings moved along quickly and in six weeks Lyn was gone. I saw her twice after that.
This was another of those turning points in my life, and a major one, things were never the same again.
I am going to skip over a lot of the things that happened during the weeks and months of "Crazy Time," as the book on divorce that I read was titled.
And I am ending the HOM. It has taken more than 230 thousand words scattered over four hundred and some pages to get to this point in my fortieth year: It seems like a good place to stop. Add in the facts that I have done this history for Bec and at her request and that she is more than vaguely familiar with the events of my life since I hit this cusp, and ending it now seems even more logical.
Life went on for me after the divorce, though, and so this blog will go on, perhaps carrying "HOM2." I have enjoyed doing this and hope that the reading has brought a few smiles to folks, and I can probably dredge up a few more stories to tell.
If the HOM continues, there will be less of an attempt at any chronological order or regular postings. I know I'll be playing catch-up & fill-in as I reread the HOM and more events get churned to memory's surface.
Because I won't be writing of dead or distant people so much from this point on, I will probably be a little more ambiguous about names and events than I was in HOM. As usual, any X-rated and really stupid parts will be left out entirely.

P.S. I considered stopping this bio completely at this point, but I guess we've had this discussion before and I lost. My luck won't be any better this time since my arguments are the same old ones I trotted out in the past only to see argued down.
Thanks, Poofy.
P.P.S. I've printed a few copies of this and stuck them in report binders. If anyone wants one of these hard copies or a CD with this as a Word Doc or a PDF files, or both or all three. let me know.
Warning: the paper makes lousy TP.
