HOM: Vegas 1

yep, this post is out of order - shoulda been posted yesterday. Sorry, but oh well. It was a fun weekend. The show itself was a disappointment as far as money goes, but I'll probably get more into that in another installment. We visited the smorgasbord at Circus-Circus several times, all we could eat at bargain prices, and stayed in a little out-of-the-way motel. We took in some of the shows and Lyn fell in love with the slot machines and won, NOT a good thing! We were in the parking lot of our motel when someone blindly backed into Don's pickup. Luckily Don was there when it happened and got things straightened out, getting a repair quote and reimbursement from the driver the same day. I am able to name the year on this trip because we went to a movie that weekend -- "High Road To China" with Tom Selleck. It was a special preview before the release date and was thoroughly enjoyable. At the SLC show I'd purchased some fake "parking tickets" to be filled out and stuck on the windshield of those cretins that take up two or more spaces when they park, either out of carelessness, laziness, or an inflated opinion of themselves and the value of their car. (My first impulse when I saw a shiny new car carefully parked in two spaces so it wouldn't get scratched was to pull out a key and etch a message into the paint, but I found that these highly insulting tickets were just as satisfying and considerably more legal.) Anyway, Don & I pulled into a lot and ended up next to a bright new 4x4 pickup that looked like it had been parked by a drunk with vision problems. Don had an "Ahah!" moment, grabbed the fake tickets and started filling one out - date, time make, model, plate number, place, etc, like a real ticket. He finished the writing and was ready to hop out and stick it on the offender's truck when we saw a guy that looked like he was bigger than the 4x4 come walking toward us, fumbling for his keys. Don waited to see if it was the 4x4 driver, and sure enough, it was. He climbed into his truck and Don sat in silence till he drove off, then tore up the ticket with the comment that he "guessed it was okay for that guy to park that way." TBC (Me) (Blacktail Books)

It sounds like your vegas experience was better than the first one I had ;-) Though I think there is a serious market for those tickets here in the valley. . .
